Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had non-penetrative sex one day before my period was due. My period is late. Could it be possible pregnancy? There was slight spotting once. I have PCOD. I have back pain and slight cramps and have been drinking carom seeds (ajwain) water to induce my menstrual cycle.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Firstly let me explain that to get pregnant, the sperms are to be released inside the vagina of the female. These sperms then need to fertilize an egg. The egg may or may not be available depending on the ovulation pattern of the female. The successfully fertilized egg must be implanted in the female's uterus. When all this happens successfully, a female is said to be pregnant. If there is no release of sperm inside the vagina, you are not pregnant. Moreover, one day before periods, the likelihood of an egg being there is rare. So do not worry; you are not pregnant.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

What about the spotting?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

With a history of PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease), there are chances of spotting. I request you to share the date of intimacy and when your period was expected.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

26th and 27th of the last month were the expected dates. If someone is in a similar situation but wants to conceive, when should they take the pregnancy test?

Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The earliest one can take the pregnancy test is almost after 15 days of intercourse or maybe after 11 to 12 days. One can get a blood hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) test done. However, pregnancy is complex, and many couples try but cannot get pregnant. So not to worry.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Any tips on getting the periods early? Because it is affecting me.

Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No medicines should be taken. Just live your everyday life and be active. Eat healthily, and stay active. Maintain the correct weight as per your height. Do not take stress as stress alone is responsible for delay in periods of 25 percent of females worldwide.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
