Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have got my period late by one week, and it ended like usual. After a week, I got my period again, and this time it is not ending. It has now been 13 days. I would not say the flow is heavy or regular. For the past seven days, it has been a tiny spot only in the morning. So, I am not sure why the spotting is still there. Please explain.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I hope you are safe and doing good. I understand from your query that you had a delayed period followed by continuous bleeding or spotting. You have one episode of two months delay previously. May I know how long it has been since you started getting your periods? It would help advise you further. If there has been no sexual contact (since your query did not mention any), then the changes discussed above in the cycle length and flow in the first two years are part of the standard development process. However, it would be advisable to get a complete blood count and thyroid tests to rule out any other causes. Meanwhile, please keep a calendar where you mark the date you start your period and the length of your cycles. By three to six months, it will give us a more clear picture. Do not be anxious, remain active, sleep well. Changes to any of these also will affect your cycles. I hope this helps. You can follow up for any further clarification. Thank you.
