Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My question is that if one has sex with a partner who has never had sex before, not using a condom, can he or she still get HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) /HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) or any STDS (Sexually Transmitted diseases)

Answered by Dr. Sushil Kakkar

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com.

No, if you had sex with someone who has never had sex with anyone else before you then you cannot get an STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease). STDs are only transmitted from an infected sexual partner. So, if it is the first time sex for someone then obviously that person has never been exposed to STDs.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

So I am not exposed to getting HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) or HPV (Human Papilloma Virus)? Because I have been feeling weak. Should I still get tested for any STDs?

Answered by Dr. Sushil Kakkar

Hi, Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If you are sure that it was the first ever sexual contact of your partner with you and no one else before you, then there is nothing to fear of STDs. However, if you are not sure about the past sexual history of your partner, then you may get tested for STDs because unprotected sex is not safe.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
