Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My urethra and labia were suddenly sore and itchy. Now it has a yellow-green discharge from the urethra. What medication should I use?

Answered by Dr. Uzma Arqam

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It could be a pelvic infection, sexually transmitted infection with or without urine infection. Have urinalysis, urine culture, high vaginal swab, strict hygiene. Soft comfortable undergarments. Sitz bath to relieve irritation (sit in warm water recurrently). Drink plenty of water. Avoid condoms to reduce sexually transmitted infection. After HVS (high vaginal swab) collection have tablet Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily and tablet Metronidazole 400 mg 8 hourly for 14 days. Follow HVS report and discuss here for any more treatment. Have a complete check-up and regular treatment of any health issue you have.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
