What could be the cause of pain in the stomach along with watery or hard stool?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am having pain at the belly button first. Later, the sharp pain comes in the stomach. I have watery stool sometimes and hard stool sometimes. There is acidity and gas, also.

Kindly advise.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

You should take anti-acidity medications and probiotics.

Avoid milk.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

I am H pylori negative. I have consulted a gastroenterologist. I was diagnosed with antral erythema. He gave medicine for 15 days, but he was still not cured completely. Shall I take any other medicine?

Kindly advise.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It takes time to heal, around three months.

You should take,

Tablet Pantocid 40 (pantoprazole) milligrams twice a day for one month, then once daily for the next two months.

Syrup Sucralfate, three tablespoons full thrice a day for three months.

There should be an improvement in four weeks. Otherwise should get a repeat upper gastrointestinal endoscopy done. If there is an improvement in symptoms, you should repeat the upper gastrointestinal endoscopy after three months.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Why does it occur?

What is the cause of this condition?

Kindly advise.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

There could be many reasons for antral erythema, like spicy food, oily food, smoking, alcohol, and stress.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
