Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have bowel movements of different consistencies lately with slight discomfort on left side of the abdomen. Yesterday, I had a highly watery stool, and I am yet to have a regular stool. I was wondering what this might be. I am a bit concerned about the irregular stools.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Well, some degree of change in the stools is normal, and I do not see any gross abnormality in your stools: however, somewhat unformed stools.

If you did not lose weight, and did not notice a change in the appetite, or did not notice blood in stools, you need not be worried then.

Since your weight seems a little high, I suggest the following tests to rule out diabetes and lipid derangement as a cause of altered bowel movements.

1) TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone).

2) HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin).

3) LFT (liver function test).

4) Fasting lipid profile.

5) CBC (complete blood count).

6) Stool detailed report plus ova parasites.

Let me know if you have any more concerns.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I had a second bowel movement that was entirely liquid. It had a yellow tint to it. I also had another bowel movement with small green particles.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Do you have abdominal pain or cramps?

I suggest tablet Mebeverine MR (antispasmodic) 200 mg twice daily half an hour before meals. It is an antisecretory agent which reduces the water contents of the stools and thus makes it formed.

Also, I suggest Isabgol husk (dietary fiber) two tablespoons once daily with water.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have attached a picture of the stool this morning. I am wondering if the white stuff is usual. Can you please help me?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It does not seem serious. It can be an undigestable component in the diet that you have taken. If you are very concerned, the best way is to do a stool detail report plus ova parasites.

Do you have abdominal pain or cramps?

Did you start tablet Mebervine and Isabgol?

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
