Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 24 years old male. I am obese and have gray hair, top scalp hair loss, tiredness, anxiety, physical weakness, sleep paralysis, and dark-colored sweat. About three months ago, I knew that I am a vitamin D deficient. My vitamin D level was 5.1 ng/mL. I started taking vitamin D3 supplements, and now it is 38.1 ng/mL. Six years ago, I was taking Roaccutane for acne vulgaris for about five months. A year and seven months ago, I quit taking Seroxat, which I took for about eight months. I was weighing less than 132.28 Ibs before taking Roaccutane, but after taking Roaccutane, I weighed about 165.34 Ibs, I started having anxiety, esophagus problems with stomach pain and headaches, which lead me after about four to five years of that to take Seroxat. A year and eight months ago, I quit taking Seroxat which I was taking for about eight months because I started to lose most of my top scalp hair and my weight dramatically went up to 229.28 Ibs, and until today with everything I tried I am not able to get it down a pound. It is going up but does not go down.

My thyroid test is fine, but my cholesterol is a bit high. Is it just anxiety that is promoting the problems with my hair and weight? If yes, what could have caused my anxiety in the first place? Could it be Roaccutane? How did it cause it, and how to solve the problem now? Could hypnotherapy work knowing that I do self-hypnosis, and my perspective on life should help me the most with this problem where it is only helping me fight back this anxiety nonsense? And my hair and weight got worse with other issues while I was on Seroxat, which worked with my anxiety for some time. Or is it just the level of my vitamin D3 being not enough the cause of them all? Or is it something else?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for posting a query. I read your query word by word. It is clear to me that you are suffering from obesity, depression, and high cholesterol level.

1. Although Roaccunate (Isotretinoin) is known to be responsible for causing anxiety and depressive symptoms, this may not be a case for you as you are persisting symptoms even after discontinuation of it.

2. The other causes of anxiety are stressful life, adverse situations, positive family history, and many other things.

3. Hypnotherapy could be of great help if provided by an experienced professional, but we do not easily find it.

4. You can seek help from psychiatrists either online or in-person for detailed evaluation and further management.

I assure you that lot of help is available that cannot be written here due to a lack of your detailed history. I suggest you come for a consultation so you can be helped out. Thanks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
