Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother-in-law, in her fifties, recently had a heart attack and two strokes due to high stress. She also had a blood clot and two brain surgeries back to back. They say that she is brain-dead on her right side and paralyzed on her right side, and they keep saying that she is unresponsive. However, when she wakes up, she seems to know what is happening. She cannot speak, and her blood pressure and heart rate start going up then she falls back to sleep. Currently, she is on life support. What do you think about her condition? Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. Your mother-in-law suffered a heart attack and stroke, causing paralysis on the right side secondary to a clot blocking the blood flow of the cerebral artery or may be due to a hemorrhage in the brain. She is on life support, but she is semiconscious. She may recover over time. However, that depends on the CT (computed tomography) or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) brain reports and other reports and vital parameters. I have seen patients recover from this situation, at least partially, with residual paralysis. Thank you.
