Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My daughter is getting stye in her eyes for the past six months that too very frequently. So, I consulted an ophthalmologist, and he suggested her glasses with a cylindrical power of -0.75 for both eyes. Her vision is six by six in axis 180. Should I make her wear glasses, or stye can be cured by following a proper diet?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is not wrong to correct the vision. You have to learn, or your daughter has to learn how to clean her eyelids and eyelashes every night before sleep. She can use a small piece of tissue, wet it by sterile water and then gently wipe the edges of the eyelids so close to the roots of lashes, this must be done daily as a daily habit. After that, she can put an eye ointment after cleaning the eyes on the edges and lashes. The eye ointment should be Tetracycline or Fucithalmic (Fusidic acid) used for one month. Then stop using it for three months. After that, you can use it for one month. Then stop using them for six months. Then use them for one month. But, do not leave them unclean. If the stye comes again, continue what I have explained above. If the stye come due to infection, you must discuss with an internal doctor to search for the cause. Your daughter should always avoid the sun (put sunglasses), the dust and all other allergic factors.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
