Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had my wisdom tooth pulled two years ago and have not had any issues until yesterday. My gum where my wisdom tooth used to be is swollen and feels like it is pulling away from my gums. What could be the cause and how can I make the swelling go down at home?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I had gone through your question. I can understand your concern. As per your history, it looks you are having retromolar area infection. It can be because of the left root stem or cavity in adjacent tooth. To get proper advice and safe diagnosis, you need to upload pictures of the involved area.

There are chances of traumatic ulcer too because sometimes the hard food in missing tooth area gets accumulated and becomes infected. You can use Chlorhexidine mouthwash or normal saline gargles and continue the antibiotic medication for five days. Make sure to avoid drugs that may affect your infant in case you are a lactating mother.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
