Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My daughter is having some clinching while sleeping for a couple of days. I am attaching her blood reports here. Please do check and provide your feedback. She is also under medication for benign seizures and taking syrup Tegretol 2% 5 ml every 12 hours for one year.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As per the reports (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), they seem fine. There are nothing much to worry about with regards to the reports. However, as per the history, I would suggest that if these clinching episodes are occurring daily or once in two days, I would suggest to get the child evaluated physically by a pediatric neurologist with probably an electrocardiogram and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) brain after physical evaluation. It may be possible that the dose of Tegretol may need to be increased as per the weight of the child.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I told the specialist that we did not notice seizures since the first dose, which we are giving her for one year now, and since two weeks, we started seeing this clinching (twitching of fingers) while in sleep, so we take her to the doctor, and she suggested the blood test to examine. May I ask you is it good to give children any supplements, like multivitamins and probiotics.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Since the dose may be less as per weight due to the weight gain, convulsions or twitching may be occurring. This can be verified only with an MRI brain, which I think should be done. As regards using of multivitamins and probiotics, I would suggest the use of multivitamins and omega 3 in the dose specific to the manufacturer labeling for children.
