Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been having frequent headaches from around the past year. They started around a year ago and would happen everyday for around a month and were so excruciating I had to take headache pills. It felt as if my brain was moving inside my head though I'm sure that's not what it was but that was what it felt like. It hurt when I moved my head. They stopped after around a month and were on and off after then. They again started to happen two months ago and would happen every evening. This time they felt more like pulsating headaches and were around the top and back to my head and also my temples. They have stopped currently but I am still worried it will happen again. I am 19 years old and am not taking any regular medication.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The way you describe your headaches they do not sound like a migraine. so I guess most probably migraines can be ruled out. the headache that you are describing looks more like a tension-type headache which is usually on both sides, around the temples. these headaches are very nonspecific and tend to occur in type-a personality people, people who stress a lot, etc. They are usually cured with basic analgesics and there is no permanent cure for them. I would advise you to try analgesics for the headaches if they occur. if they are very severe and difficult to tolerate then we can try stronger medication. I would also advise you to not think about them a lot. do let me know if you can help me out any further.

The Probable causes

Tension-type headache.

Investigations to be done

Nothing as of now.

Differential diagnosis

Migraine.

Treatment plan

Analgesics to be tried for the headache.

Regarding follow up

Please follow up if the headaches do not subside with basic over-the-counter analgesics.
