Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am someone who suffers from health anxiety. I notice a lot of changes with my body. However, I had an appointment to get my throat looked at today but was declined due to COVID-19 concerns. I do not feel this is COVID-19 related, however. I have a spot on my bottom right side of my mouth. A skin colored type of bump or growth. It almost reminds me of like a pimple. I am not sure what I am even seeing, and it is hard for me to describe. I have had a raw feeling throat for about a week and a half now. Nothing major, no serious pain in my throat, not even a bad sore throat. I have also had a lot of drainage from my sinuses. I have had canker sore issues consistently for the past nine months now though. Constantly, without fail, one will heal, two will appear. I have had headaches off and on, again, nothing major. I feel feverish at times, many times actually, but I do not have a fever when I check. Runny nose and congestion have been there as well, again, nothing major. I felt very minor sick. I am scared ultimately. My anxiety is a wreck, and my primary care doctor refused to see me about It today. I am currently on Lorazepam, Gabapentin, and Mary's Magic mouthwash.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You should not be so worried like that. It is a minor sickness. You just need a symptomatic treatment as an antihistamine and anti-inflammatory drugs.Your throat is deep dusky red in color (attachment removed to protect patient identity). This is not normal. I think you may have a reflux problem. Do you have a burning sensation in your chest or your stomach? Do you have a bitter taste in your throat when waking up in the morning? Do you eat spicy and fast food?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I do have reflux issues. Lately, I constantly feel warm, burning, and foamy sensation around my sternum area. I have burning in my stomach on occasion. I do not usually have a bitter taste issue but I definitely have a burning issue right now in my stomach. I do eat spicy foods. To clarify, do you not think that bump is of any concern then?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

So I can say that the problem in your throat is a reflection of your reflux problem. Avoid spicy and fast foods. You can use Omeprazole 40 mg once daily before breakfast to treat the reflux problem. Anxiety increases reflux, so you have to be more calm.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
