Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have pain on the left side of my throat when I swallow for the past two days. I am not sick and do not have a sore throat, fever, swollen glands, or any change in my throat. I am a 51-year-old female. Do you know what this could be and what I can do about it?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Please capture a photo for your throat and send it to me. Do you have reflux in the form of a burning sensation in your chest or your stomach? Do you have a bitter taste in your throat when waking up in the morning?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have had reflux, but not every day. I do not get burning in the stomach or chest. But, I have the acid taste in the mouth (only a few times). I usually get symptoms of heart-pounding and abdomen swelling. It helps when I sleep with two pillows, and sometimes I take Pepcid and Zantac. I have attached the picture.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There is no picture attached, but I will call the doctor services to check the problem. According to your reply, the problem is mainly reflux. You need to use Omeprazole 40 mg once daily before breakfast. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that is more powerful than Zantac (Ranitidine). You can start with two tablets before breakfast for a week. Avoid icy and spicy foods. Once I check the picture, I will come back to you again.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have attached the picture.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen the picture (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It is the effect of the reflux. Add anti-inflammatory tablet Alphintern one tablet twice daily. Avoid heavy meals before bedtime. The last meal should be four hours before bedtime.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
