Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I ate an ice cream yesterday and since then my throat is paining. I do not have a fever but I have a runny nose.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query.

You have upper respiratory tract symptoms like a runny nose, sore throat. Watch out for other symptoms like headache, body ache, fever, dry or wet cough, etc. I hope you would have taken 2 doses of the COVID vaccine by now.

I would suggest you the following:

  1. Do lukewarm water gargles two to three times a day.
  2. Take tablet Paracetamol 500 mg twice a day for throat pain.
  3. Avoid taking the tablet if the pain reduces or gets controlled with gargles.
  4. Drink ginger tea. Avoid cold water or cold food items.

Take anti-allergic tablets like Levocetirizine. One tablet before bedtime for three days for runny nose. Maintain adequate hydration. Watch out for other symptoms. If the problem persists for 4 to 5 days, consider taking antibiotics (to suggest you antibiotics I have to know your antibiotic allergy history).

Follow up for further guidance if necessary.

Thanks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
