Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I started feeling sick last week after getting drenched in cold rain. Afterward, I developed a sore throat, severe headache, chills, and fever. The symptoms lasted for four days. After that, however, all the symptoms went away except for the throat pain. It has been a week, and I still have throat pain. I took Benylin during the first few days, and I am taking Advil now.

Please suggest me a solution for this.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

You have an upper respiratory tract infection or pharyngitis, which can be managed swiftly. I suggest you to follow the instructions mentioned below,

1. Avoid cold food or water.

2. Do a lukewarm water gargle by adding one pinch of salt to it two to three times a day.

3. Drink warm ginger tea.

4. Take Paracetamol (analgesic) 650 mg tablet once or twice daily for throat pain.

5. Maintain adequate hydration and take rest.

6. Eat warm and homemade food only.

7. You may need an antibiotic if the throat pain does not go away in one or two days.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent.

Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
