Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had radiation treatment on my thyroid three years ago after being diagnosed with Graves disease and hyperthyroidism. According to my PCP, my levels are just above average (5.3), and he prescribed me 150 mcg of Levothyroxine.. He adjusted my dose from 25 mcg to 200 mcg, back down to 25 mcg, and then slowly up again. I am constantly tired and have gained 100 pounds in the past year. I always feel hungry, skin crawls, bones, muscles, and joints all ache constantly.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

From your history, it seems you went from hyper to hypothyroidism. But the dose of Levothyroxine is not enough for you as you still have symptoms. Moreover, you seem to have an infection from your complete blood count test results.

What I would like to know is, do you have any pain in your neck, or is there any fever? Also, it is essential to know whether you have autoimmune hypothyroidism. If yes, we need to look at your thyroid antibodies because if they are high, they constantly react against your thyroid gland. You may need some mineral supplements if it is autoimmune.

Please let me know the details to get to the bottom of this.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
