Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Before a few months, I went to a doctor as I had a bad rash on the shaft of the penis and around the groin area. I was prescribed creams and after examination, the doctor told me it as psoriasis. The condition is manageable now but my foreskin is tight. It was tight initially in a normal state and I was advised to apply cream Elocon. It helped me with tightness and now it seems to be fine when I take a shower. I can able to retract it but the foreskin remains tight when I have an erection. This has an impact on my relationship. Is there any other cream that can help me? What is the recovery time taken after circumcision? Is it possible for me to have intercourse after doing it?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

In psoriasis affecting the penis, condoms can help to protect the affected psoriatic skin from inducing trauma. Elocon is an ointment with a corticosteroid. This helps to provide relief from inflammation and dryness during psoriasis. This is a good cream and it is helpful in the long run. Circumcision is done for thirty minutes. It is good to avoid having sex for a couple of weeks to four weeks and do it after ensuring that the penis is completely healed.

The Probable causes

You can have it due to genetics and lifestyle.

Investigations to be done

You can do a physical examination.

Treatment plan

You can use corticosteroid creams.

Preventive measures

Prevent dryness and have sexual activity with condoms. It reduces the trauma.

Regarding follow up

Have a regular follow up with your dermatologist.
