Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 58-year-old female and diabetic patient. My Hb1Ac is 6. I have been suffering from tinea cruris for the past year. I have tried all the medicines, including creams like Clotrimazole, Candid B powder, and tablets like Fluconazole, but nothing worked.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. Tinea cruris is common in people with diabetes and require strict control. Your HbA1c is slightly raised. It may require six weeks of treatment, and interrupting treatment can lead to resistant cases. Many patients leave treatment because it is expensive. I suggest you to follow a few instructions mentioned below.

  1. Use a capsule of Fluconazole (antifungal) 150 mg once a week for six weeks.
  2. Apply Canesten cream (antifungal) two to three times a day.
  3. Wash clothes separately. Avoid washing machines. Dry the clothes in the sunlight.
  4. Avoid sweating and humidity as much as you can.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
