Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have a problem with my ears. I always hear sounds at night, and I get distracted because of it. I think I have tinnitus. I have not consulted a doctor yet because I am afraid of having an MRI or CT scan.
Kindly help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Tinnitus can occur for various reasons, from simple wax buildup to tumors. Please mention whether you listen to loud music with earphones for extended periods or if you feel pressure in your ears. Here are some tips to help resolve your issue: Avoid noisy environments, refrain from using earphones, and take calls on speaker mode. Try to divert your attention from the ringing and focus on other environmental sounds, especially natural ones. Keep your mobile away from your bed, avoid caffeinated drinks like coffee, tea, and alcohol, and refrain from smoking. You can also practice Bhramari pranayam, which has shown excellent results. Additionally, try steam inhalation and drink lukewarm water frequently. If possible, consult an audiologist for immittance audiometry and pure tone audiometry tests and follow up with your results.
I hope this has helped you. Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.
Thank you.
