Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had a root canal done. I was given an injection that kind of hurt. After that, I realized my tongue was numb but by the end of the day, it got better. When I woke up the next day, I had a tingling sensation but by the end, it changed from tingling to burning. I can bite my tongue and feel it but I only have some taste. When I touch it, it is a little numb. Can this be a nerve damage or something not so serious since I can feel my tongue?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
How are you doing?
Do not worry. This is the reversal of anesthesia effect. It is just that it is taking a little longer time in you. Tingling sensation means that the nerve anesthesia is going off. Wait for two more days. If you still feel numbness, then get back to the dentist. They will provide you with medicine to manage it.
You will be fine. Do not worry at all.
Do not bite your tongue. Now maybe you are not feeling much, but once the sensations are back, it will hurt if you had caused ulcers by biting hard.
Take care.
