Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My daughter has three cavities in her teeth. It is in its early stages. What medication do you advise?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Unfortunately, there are no medicines to cure tooth decay without dental treatment. The tooth has three layers, outer enamel, dentin, and innermost nerve layer. When decay starts in the enamel layer, it does not show symptoms other than a visible black spot on the tooth. At this stage, a simple tooth filling should be done. But if left untreated, it progresses through the dentin, and when it reaches the nerve layer, it starts paining. In this case, a simple filling is not possible. In order to treat the decay, they must be removed manually. And if multiple teeth are affected, find out what caused it and try to stop the cause. The most common cause of multiple teeth decays in children is their food habits, like increased consumption of sticky foods like chocolates and biscuits. Other causes could be compromised oral hygiene, drinking milk just before bed, bottle feeding, and sugary foods.

Please consult a dentist and start treatment immediately before the decay progresses and affects the inner layer. If the treatment is started at the primary stage, the tooth can be filled just by removing those black spots.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
