Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

A few months ago, a triangular piece behind my two front lower teeth broke off due to decay. Since then, I have felt tightening of my teeth and that my upper and lower teeth are out of alignment. What will a dentist recommend for my teeth? Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your complaint and the relevant details. The triangular piece of the teeth, which you see broken, should be because of tooth decay. It is one of the common areas where tooth decay occurs. The tightening that you feel is probably the sensitivity in the teeth. The possible treatment plan for such a decayed tooth would be a simple filling after removing any decay left behind. There would not be any change in the alignment unless there is a wisdom tooth trying to erupt in your lower jaw. Considering your age, it is most unlikely to happen. I suggest you visit a dentist to get the filling done. You might also have to take an X-ray for those two teeth in case the dentist who virtually sees the teeth feels that the decay is deep enough. The treatment plan might differ if the decay is deep. Meanwhile, for sensitivity, I suggest you use anti-sensitivity toothpaste twice daily, replacing your normal toothpaste for a week.

Thank you.
