Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a tooth pulled ten days back. Now there is a growth coming out of the socket. It is white or grayish and soft. No pain but it is getting larger. What is it?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read through your complaint and the relevant details. After every tooth extraction, there will be an immediate blood clot that is formed and if secured properly that leads to the formation of a greyish white fibrous layer. This eventually will form the gums in the tooth removed area. So this is a normal sequel. You need to worry only if you have continuous bleeding, swelling or any spicule growth which feels like a hard object pricking or pain along with any of these. It has been a week since you extracted and so I hope the healing is proceeding normally. Meanwhile please avoid hot and spicy food, vigorously brushing on that side and playing with your tongue. If you find this growth is protuberant and becoming larger please visit your dentist immediately for getting it removed if possible.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
