Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

A few years back, I started neglecting my teeth, and hence I am suffering from cavities in some of my teeth. I did not have any cavities a few months back, but now the tooth is broken, and they have a sharp edge now. So for the past two days, I have been suffering from toothache and a burning sensation on my tongue. I also have a headache and earache on teh same side of the toothache. Kindly suggest some medicine to relieve this. I had taken Paracetamol as the pain was unberaable. Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I would suggest getting an intraoral periapical radiograph; depending on it, root canal treatment or extraction might be needed. I would suggest the following:

  1. Tablet Feldene 20 mg (Piroxicam) twice daily for pain.
  2. Apply Anbesol (Benzocaine) gel over the tongue for tongue ulceration.
  3. Avoid gargling with hot water or hot fomentation.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
