Patient's Query

Hi,

I currently have braces and have been experiencing a sensitive tooth since last year. Last year it hurt when I drank cold liquids, so I went to see my dentist about it, and he said it was sensitive, so he prescribed me some extra fluoride toothpaste. I have been fine for a year; however, I have recently developed a dull pain that hurts and only comes on occasionally. It is my bottom right pre-molar, and the tips have gone white. Last month, I went to the dentist, and he said my teeth were clean. However, I am scared that the tooth is decaying underneath my brace, causing the pain.

I also have acid reflux, and I am taking Lansoprazole. If that is related to it?

Do you know what it is? And if so, how do I treat it? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

If the tooth is still sensitive, it cannot handle too much force on it by bracing. It might have injured the nerves or exposed roots due to gum recession. Ask your dentist to go slow with less force and use sensitive toothpaste for a month or so. There is no other way till you have braces. You may need root canal treatment if the pain does not go away.

I hope you find it helpful.

Kind regards.
