Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 33-year-old male experiencing teeth sensitivity even after cleaning and filling one tooth (upper jaw). The adjacent canine tooth is now more sensitive.

Answered by Dr. Tooba Qazi

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

After getting the scaling treatment patient may experience sensitivity for two weeks. During this time, you should use

1) Antibacterial mouthwash rinses two times a day.

2) Mild warm saline water mouth rinses three times a day for at least three weeks.

By doing these rinses, your oral hygiene improves, gums strengthen, and complaints of sensitivity go away. For the adjacent canine tooth sensitivity, you should get an X-ray done of that particular tooth so that caries risk assessment can be done properly. You can attach photos of the periapical X-ray of that particular tooth and some clinical photos of the tooth here so that I can give a final word for its diagnosis. Meanwhile, for generalized sensitivity, follow the above-mentioned instructions.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
