Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am doing a root canal on one tooth, it has been taking three sittings, and I still feel the pain during the procedure, and I cannot bear it. What shall I do? I am now terrified of going, and I want to deal with the painful tooth? What is your suggestion?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Root canal treatment usually takes three to five visits. However, pain virtually vanishes from the second visit onwards. Underlying infection may make it difficult to obtain proper anesthesia, because of which it hurts during treatment. You should go through a complete course of antibiotics, as prescribed by your doctor, and in the same course, your treatment should also ideally get completed. Treatment may even take more visits, but pain automatically subsides with the elimination of infection. The procedure is almost pain-free.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
