Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had a toothache, a top rearmost tooth on the right-hand side. And I had gotten rid of it with Ibuprofen four days ago. But now I have a new problem. My right cheek has inflamed and painful. It also hurts when I open my mouth wide enough to even let a spoon in so I can barely eat. That was three days ago. I got the swelling the next day when my toothache got reduced. I have had problems with my teeth before, but this time it is far worst. My teeth hurt at least once a year.

I have been taking Ibuprofen three times a day for three days. Now I have started to take Celecoxib and Mefenamic acid, but nothing works. The swelling subsides for a few hours but then returns. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query. As per your history, I suspect it is a third molar infection as it leads to restricted mouth opening.

I suggest you take the following medications:

1) Tablet Amoxyclav (Amoxicillin with Clavulanic acid) 625 mg, one tablet twice a day after meals for five days.

2) Tablet Ibuprofen, one tablet thrice a day after meals for five days.

3) Capsule Omeprazole, one capsule twice a day before meals for five days.

4) Gargle with lukewarm saline or any available mouthwash.

Kindly upload an image of the painful tooth if possible. So can be sure with the diagnosis. I hope this was helpful.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
