Hello doctor,

I have a tooth which is gone but the root is still there. It is super sore. The pain is unbearable and put Anbesol, Orajel, Ibuprofen, Advil, Aspirin, tried it all. What should I try to do now? Can I just pull it out? Do I have to go to a doctor or dentist? What will they do for me that I cannot do myself? There is also swelling and redness around the area. I washed it out with a couple different things like warm salt water, Hydrogen peroxide. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have got your problem. As there is root piece left inside, then definitely you should go to the nearby dentist to get it extracted soon. As there are pain and swelling, it means that the root piece is infected. So you need to get it removed as soon as possible. Dentist will take that region's radiograph and will give you local anesthesia and then will extract that root piece either non surgically or surgically depends on the case. Do not worry. It will be fine after that. Take care.
