Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had intercourse with a sex worker seven months ago. I had double protection. But the condom broke in the middle, and I immediately took it out and did not expose it to her vaginal fluid. Within three hours, I took the TRI-DOT test, and it was negative. I have had body ache and fatigue for ten days. I consulted a doctor, and he checked my vitamin B12 levels and said I have vitamin B12 deficiency. And he gave me a B12 injection. A week after the injection, I developed skin rashes, and they decreased after 14 days. Every month, I do CBP, LFT, RFT, and CUE tests. Everything is normal. But I am afraid that something is going to happen. I am irritable, anxious, and cannot concentrate on my studies.

Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. But I think that you are more anxious and depressed than you should be.

You can repeat HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) test if that concerns you the most. For vitamin B12 deficiency, you can take a B12 tablet instead of an injection, and that may be enough. I suggest you take capsule D-Rise (vitamin D3) 2000 units on alternative days. If all the laboratory investigations are normal, relax and get back to everyday life. It is advisable to check TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) and FT4 (free thyroxine) to make sure the thyroid is fine. It is more than enough to repeat an HIV test, and if it is negative, forget the whole thing and get back to normal life.

Take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

I am afraid to repeat the test. I fear getting anything wrong, and I am worried about my condition if being a positive case.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Your chances of getting HIV are minimal. So do not worry and take the test so that you get relief from this anxiety. Also, nowadays, HIV can be treated easily with medicines.

I hope this helps. Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
