Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

The following is the thyroid function report of my fiancee. She is 22 years old. The TSH is 4.42, T4 is 7.53, and T3 is 1.30. Please have a look. Since her mother had a thyroid issue, I am worried that she could have it too. Do you think this could create any problem in the future? Will she need any medication in the future? Please advise. It is urgent.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I just read your query.

From the reports that you had attached (attachment removed to protect patient identity), it appears that your future wife has an absolutely normal thyroid function. Let me answer each one of your questions. She has no thyroid problem. She does not have any problems presently. However, no one can predict the future. She currently does not require any treatments. This it is not a genetic disease. So, do not worry.

Hope you find my advice of some benefit. Good luck.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the answer. Just one more clarification. My family is worried and just wanted to know if the high level of TSH will affect conception or lead to unnecessary weight gain. Are any precautions necessary to maintain the TSH level? Are her pimples related to TSH? Please answer.

Answered by Dr. Shaikh Sadaf

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

She does not have a high TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone). Therefore there will be no weight gain related to this hopefully. Also, she does not have any thyroid dysfunction. Therefore, there are no issues arising because of this that can cause problems in conception. She is a normal person. No precautions are necessary. Also, her pimples are not related to TSH.

Hope I have answered all your questions.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
