Hi doctor,
My wife and I have type 1 diabetes. I have had it for the past few years; my wife was diagnosed with type 1 last year. My question is since both of us have diabetes, can it affect our baby? My wife is five months pregnant. I am worried about the little one. How can I prevent complications (if any)? Kindly help me.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
If both parents have type 1 diabetes, the child will likely develop it. It is a genetic factor. However, if the child is taught to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle and healthy diet habits, then the child may not get affected by it.
Thank you.
