Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex with my partner today. She is on the 22nd day of her cycle. Will she get pregnant? We do not want to have a baby now. What should we do now?

Answered by Dr. Nadia Khan

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If she has a regular cycle of 28 to 30 days, then there are no chances of pregnancy, and these are safe days. So nothing to worry. I hope it has helped you. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

As you said, my partner is on regular cycles, so I hope she would not be able to get pregnant now. But few people said there is a chance of getting pregnant on the 22nd day of her cycle. My partner is supposed to get her periods after eight days, in case if she misses her periods for 10 days and gets positive in a pregnancy test, do we have a chance to stop the pregnancy and let her continue her periods? I am not sure that she will not get pregnant. She got bleeding, and cramps under the belly during and after the intercourse. All I want to know is what to do if she misses her period and gets a positive in her pregnancy test. Can we stop that pregnancy? Or should we have to take any contraceptive pills now? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

First of all, if someone is having a regular period of three days then probably ovulation day will be on 15th or 16th day and these days could be unsafe. As she is already entered the last week of her cycle which is a safe period as it starts on her regular day onwards. Secondly, she has to wait for her period nobody can predict if she will or will not be pregnant. If she misses her periods then definitely there are options not to have the baby, and if you want to do that right now, then I would suggest you go for a coil (intrauterine device) for her to be 100 percent sure that pregnancy does not occur. I hope it was helpful.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
