Common "Unsafe Period" queries answered by top doctors | iCliniq

Unsafe Period

Unsafe period refers to the period in the menstrual cycle when the woman is most likely to get pregnant. Usually, a woman ovulates 14 days after her period on an average. But, it can happen a few days before or after as well. So, the period from day-11 to day-18 of the cycle is considered as unsafe period or fertile period. In addition, a sperm can survive in the female tract for five to seven days. So, it can wait there for the egg to arrive and fertilize it even if the intercourse happened days prior to ovulation.
