Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

After taking a tablet of Unwanted-72 15 days back, I have been bleeding for three days. Today is the fourth day, and I have mild back pain and cramps in my thighs.

Kindly help.

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and would be happy to help. I have gone through the details presented by you (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). Unwanted-72 (Levonorgestrel) and other emergency contraceptive pills are hormone-based and have a side effect of inducing bleeding in some women. Also, they may experience pain and cramps. When was your last period? How was the flow? When did you have intercourse, and when did you take the pill? There is nothing to worry about. You will feel better in another two days.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert with the answers to the above questions.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the response.

When can I expect my period?

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As you had taken Unwanted-72 in the first half of your cycle, when you were releasing estrogen, you can consider the present bleeding as your period. For your next period, you can calculate the dates from your current period. Also, as you have regular periods, you are not pregnant.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
