Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had taken Unwanted 72 three days back. Currently, I have been experiencing pain in the lower abdomen and around the ovary and uterus for two days. I took Anafortan for pain but had no relief. I have not got any laboratory tests done.

Is this a side effect of the medicine?

How long will it take for the pain to go away?

Was it a mistake?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I have gone through the details presented by you that you have taken an emergency contraceptive pill Unwanted 72 within three days (maybe one dose and the second dose three days apart), or you have taken a single dose after three days of unprotected intercourse. These pills are hormone-based and have known side effects of pain in the abdomen, dizziness, headache, breast tenderness, and vomiting. So please do not worry; it may subside in two to three days. Further, light bleeding may occur in around ten days from your last pill dose. Also, be prepared for a delay in your next period by 10 to 15 days. If you have taken two pills at an interval of three days, there may be white discharge as well. To help you further, I will require details, such as:

When was your last menstrual period?

When was the sexual intercourse?

Do you have any history of irregular periods?

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
