Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I was having sex during my periods for two alternative days. So I had taken Unwanted 72 for two times. One after the third day of the period and the second after the fifth day of the period. So now on the 14th day of my menstrual cycle, I am bleeding. Is it normal? Did my period come early?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It is not uncommon for emergency contraception, such as Unwanted 72, to cause irregular bleeding or spotting. The medication contains high doses of hormones, which can disrupt your menstrual cycle and cause bleeding outside of your usual period. Bleeding on the 14th day of your menstrual cycle could be related to the use of emergency contraception, but it is also possible that it could be related to ovulation. If the bleeding is light and goes away within a few days, it is likely just a side effect of the medication.
