Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My partner and I had sexual intercourse, and she did not get periods. What should be the next step to stop unwanted pregnancy? Please help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

It can be due to pregnancy if there is a history of unprotected sex, and make sure you do a urine pregnancy test to know the cause. Other reasons can be:

  1. Infection if the white discharge is there. I suggest you use the tablet Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for five days.
  2. It can be due to hormonal issues. I suggest you get a thyroid function test.
  3. It can be due to polycystic ovarian disorder, so get an ultrasound abdomen done or can be due to anemia or vitamin deficiency.
  4. It can be due to dehydration, and make sure you take adequate water.

For now, I suggest you use the tablet Livogen (Ferrous fumarate) once a night and plan for investigation so we can plan for management. To prevent pregnancy can use an emergency pill within 72 hours of the act. If 72 hours are crossed, you must check with the doctor for an abortion pill.

I hope this information will help.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

Please confirm which birth control pill I should give her as she is 27. It has been more than ten days since we had sex and four or five days after her period date. Please help me.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Age is not the issue. Birth control pills need to be taken within 72 hours of sex. After that, you must see a doctor for a prescription pill in person.

I hope this information will help.

Thanks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
