Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected oral sex with a sex worker. After that, my urethra started showing signs of inflammation. The urethra became sore and irritated. There is a burning sensation in that area. I consulted a specialist doctor who advised me Doxycycline. However, even after consuming the tablet, there is no improvement in my symptoms. I tested negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea tests. I am worried. What to do?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. It seems you have developed urethritis secondary to a sexually transmitted disease. So, I suggest you get some tests done, which include urine routine and microscopy, urine culture and sensitivity, semen culture and sensitivity, and also test for syphilis. I also suggest you follow certain instructions; take a tablet of Doxycycline (tetracycline) 100 milligrams twice daily for 14 days, take a tablet of Cranpac D (Cranberry and D-Mannose) twice daily for a month, take a capsule of Econorm (Saccharomyces boulardii) 250 milligrams twice daily for a month, and take a tablet of Chymoral Forte (Trypsin-chymotrypsin) twice daily for one month. Drink lots of water. Drink cranberry or lemon juice which will help reduce the stinging sensation and help cleanse your urine. Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for your reply.

Do you think Doxycycline alone will clear the infection? Or do I need to ask for the other medicines also?

Please help.
