Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Two weeks ago, I had possible sepsis due to a severe kidney infection. I have been on IV antibiotics for a week and a week on oral antibiotics. The course got completed yesterday. However, I am still constantly throwing up despite the anti-sickness pills. I can hardly eat anything, and I am throwing up even when I have not eaten. I also have bladder incontinence and still have a lot of kidney pain. I have never had kidney infections before. However, I have had constant UTI that always show up negative on the urine test. I am taking ADHD medicine Guanfacine, Sertraline, Pregabalin, a contraceptive pill, and an asthma inhaler. Kindly help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

UTIs (urinary tract infections) are common due to sexual activity or careless attitude towards hygiene. But they are usually mild and do not progress to kidney infection commonly. Antibiotics which you have taken are effective for community-acquired UTI. I would like to know if other things point towards recoveries like improvement in fever or blood tests. Since when you are taking medication for ADHD (attention-deficit or hyperactive disorder), these medications are known to cause side effects like urinary urgency and incontinence. It would help if you can upload copies of the CT (computed tomography) scans and blood tests to assess the severity of the infection. I would advise you to take some over-the-counter medications for nausea and vomiting, which will help manage these symptoms. Also, in diet, try to eat in small amount but have frequent meals which will help indigestion. Also, try to take a bit soft diet to help reducing nausea. I would be happy to help you further if you have more queries. Stay home, stay safe.
