What does the second faint line in a pregnancy test indicate?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I tested for pregnancy four times after one month and two months after my last period. Three were negative, but the fourth one showed a faint second line. What does it mean?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The faint second line is suggestive or could be early pregnancy. Repeat the test after five days, preferably with morning sample urine.

When did your last period commence?

Get an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis to rule out any gestational sac formation. It can detect when the fetus is five weeks.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I did not do penetrative sex. The only possibility of getting pregnant was if his lubricants came in contact with my vulva. I have missed periods before also, but not for more than 40 days. Is there any particular test other than a home test kit to verify this? Do I need a prescription to get it checked?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

There is no chance of pregnancy since there is no penetrative sex. If there is penetrative sex, then you need to be bothered.

You missed your period for almost two months, and if you had unprotected sexual intercourse, it would be detected at any cause. However, you can give a blood sample and test beta hCG levels if you doubt.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

What might be the reason for this 66 days delay in my period?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The report (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) suggests that you are not pregnant. Need to think of the thyroid-related issue, PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease), or stress.

Thank you and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
