Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 25-year-old female and unmarried. I was having severe pain in my lower stomach. So I did a pelvic test, and the scan says I have a hypoechoic fundal intramural fibroid 32 mm × 39 mm in size and an irregular uterine lining. My symptoms are a pain in my lower abdomen, breast pain, acne, loss of hair, and irregular period. I am not sure whether I am ovulating. Should I have to worry about it? Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. There is a definite fibroid (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity) in the fundal area and impinging on endometrium of borderline size (less than 5 cm). The ovaries have not been commented upon for PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease), so cannot comment about ovulation. But this fibroid shall keep growing if you keep getting your menstruation as it feeds on oestrogen. I would suggest you start your family soon as the fibroid keeps growing. So to stop it from growing, menstruation would have to be medically stopped so that it does not grow further till you plan for pregnancy.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
