Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I recently got an ultrasound scan done. I am attaching my reports. I am also planning to get pregnant. Will the findings in the report affect my pregnancy?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

I have seen your reports (the attachments removed to protect the patient's identity).

It seems you are affected symptomatically and suffering from irregular, unscheduled, and heavy bleeding. In fibroids, the location and size matter. Less than three centimeters is not too disturbing, but submucosal fibroids distorting the cavity more than three centimeters could give side effects like fertility issues (unable to have implantation), miscarriage after conception, etc. So, I suggest you can have both medical as well as surgical treatment but better to have a medical one to shrink it as this would be better for a healthy pregnancy. It will also help to reduce bleeding. I suggest you the instructions mentioned below.

1. Take a single dose of Ulipristal Acetate (progesterone receptor modulator) for three months and check the size of the fibroid and the improvement in symptoms.

2. Take a tablet of Folic acid daily, five milligrams.

3. Do a full body check-up and treatment of any health issues.

4. Quit recreational drugs and have recreational activities as a couple.

Do a follow-up scan after three months, or else I suggest you opt for a myomectomy before trying for conception. For patients with fibroid uterus, it is advisable to do a planned cesarean section to avoid complications.

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
