Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had my period two weeks ago roughly. Just a few minutes back, I had some medium dark colored bleeding. What could this mean? Is it pregnancy?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is a very short description of your query. It could be implantation bleeding if you had recently unprotected sex, or any infection that is appearing as vaginal discharge or could be bleeding or discharge from a local lesion or could be signs and symptoms of cervical erosion or any other pelvic pathology or just unscheduled bleeding due to hormonal effects, etc. Check if you have been taking any contraceptive or any hormonal treatment or imbalance or had any other medical disorder? Have serum beta hCG to exclude pregnancy. If it comes negative, then have tests advised below.

Have a vaginal swab to exclude infection, complete blood count and thyroid function test. Have one transvaginal scan, cervical smear and if possible outpatient hysteroscopic examination by a gynecologist. Check on the regularity of cycles, any other abnormal symptoms, revise your medications by discussing with the related specialist and to have complete treatment with regular follow ups. Collect laboratory results and discuss here. Have a strict hygiene, use condoms to avoid transmission of infections. Have a balanced diet, daily walk and try to have normal BMI. I hope things would be better. In case of positive pregnancy test no need to have more tests but start Folic acid daily and do have a scan after 2 to 3 weeks if remains asymptomatic.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
