Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I went to an appointment for birth control and told them I was scared because I had a weird vaginal odor and discharge. My discharge happened more often. They did STD tests but never called me back. They could not do a pap smear because I was on my periods. I do not itch, and my discharge is either clear or cloudy, sometimes with a little yellow color. I have tried soaking in vinegar and other home remedies as well. But I do not know what to do.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is impossible to do a vaginal swab test during periods as blood will come instead of discharge that needs to be tested. Is it irritating but not itching? You do not have the investigation result. We do not know what organism to treat. Clear white cloudy discharge with milk yellow appearance could also be candidiasis or bacterial vaginosis.

  1. Take tablet Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily and tablet Metronidazole 400 mg three times a day for seven days.
  2. Take Canesten pessary 500 mg on two alternate nights. It will clear candidiasis by draining through the vagina.
  3. Try to have HVS (high vaginal swab) before medicines.

Thank you.
