Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I live in a small town, and recently our water has been tested as unsafe and has a lightish brown color. I have noticed this is affecting my skin and hair and making the hair rough. I think it also caused an infection in my vagina, even though I am not sure. Four days ago, I used a dildo in the shower, and once I removed it, my hymen felt irritated as if there was a tear. I thought this was normal since I have not used any penetrative toy after this. But the irritation is still there, and yesterday my period started with a heavy flow. It almost feels like a yeast infection without any itch, Just a sandpaper-like feeling around and in my vaginal opening. I am a virgin, but I use toys, dildos, etc. I was planning on seeing a gynecologist about this. But again, I am not sure if this is serious. My last yeast infection was a year ago. I have been drinking plenty of water since last week to rule out the possibility of a yeast infection. I have noticed my vagina smells fishy. I do not have any medical problems. I am healthy, and I have never seen a gynecologist before.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.

I think it is a pelvic infection, so it is better to check which particular organism caused it. I advise you:

  1. To do a vaginal swab to test in the laboratory.
  2. Have a sitz bath, and sit in warm water to avoid irritation.
  3. Maintain strict hygiene, and use soft comfortable undergarments.
  4. Use condoms for any form of sex, and avoid unnatural things it might hurt you.
  5. If the swab results are positive, have a tablet Doxycycline 100 mg (Doxycycline hydrochloride) twice daily and a tablet of Flagyl 400 mg (Metronidazole) three times a day for 14 days. Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk to them, and take medications with their consent.

Collect the swab report, and you can discuss it here.

Thank you.
