Hello doctor,

I am 11 weeks pregnant and have itching in my vaginal and anal hole. My doctor advised washing my vagina with an intimate wash liquid, inserting a Candid CL suppository inside my vagina, and taking two pills of Doxt-SL daily after food. Is it safe to take Doxycycline during pregnancy?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

Doxycycline (antibiotic) is usually not recommended during pregnancy. However, if your gynecologist prescribed it, then you should take it. Otherwise, I suggest you discuss other alternatives to Doxycycline with her. The itchiness in your vaginal and anal area could be because of candidal overgrowth, which is common during pregnancy. That is why the doctor prescribed a Candid CL suppository containing Clindamycin and Clotrimazole. I also suggest you do tests like a vaginal swab test, vaginal discharge culture, and stool examination for ova parasites.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
