Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Since two months, I have been dealing with intermittent itching, clumpy discharge, soreness in my abdomen, and a foul smell. I went to the doctor, and she sent everything to the laboratory for testing. She concluded I had no STDs or UTIs but suffering from a yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis at the same time. The bacterial vaginosis treatment seems to have worked, but I am still having itchiness and white clumps with clear discharge. I have treated myself with Monistat 1 and 3, along with an oral medication prescribed by her. What is wrong with me?

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I totally understand your condition and have gone through the reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) shared by you. Firstly let me assure you that you are on the correct medication.

Please share the following details to understand the situation better:

  1. How long did you take the medication?
  2. Is the discharge all the time or during ovulation only?
  3. Is the smell still there, or is it only the discharge now?
  4. Have you taken vaginal pessary as well?

Although medication is one part of it, certain additional steps which may help with itching are:

  1. Observe excellent hygiene.
  2. Use cotton underwear.
  3. Use gentle soap or detergent to wash the underwear.
  4. Wear loose underwear.
  5. Do not do an intense workout, which may cause sweat in the vaginal area.
  6. Use protection during sexual intercourse.
  7. Use gentle feminine wash to clean private parts.
  8. Keep the area dry.
  9. Apply Surfaz-SN (Beclometasone, Neomycin, and Clotrimazole) cream locally after consulting your doctor.

Thank you.
