Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I recently had unprotected sex and now I have started to notice bumps in my vagina. What should I do?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

This is looking like ulcer. It could be herpes or other STI (sexually transmitted infection). Do a human papilloma virus (HPV) test and avoid sexual activity untill you complete your medicine course. Use a condoms while having intercourse and do not worry it could be because of some minor infection also. Even if it is herpes it is curable with proper medicine course but before going towards any treatment we should know which infection is this. To avoid such subsequent infections, use condoms while having intercourse, keep genital area clean and dry, change undergarments twice a day.

I hope this information helps you,

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Do you think it is herpes? Would they show up immediately after sex? Could it just be from rough sex?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The lesions look like ulcerative lesions but they will not appear within just hours of intercourse. It takes at least two to 12 days for such lesions to appear. Yes, rough sex may also cause erosion. Wait for two days till you can apply lignocaine gel, if it is still not relieved by this then please do an STI test. Is it painful or bleeds on touch?

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
